Parts of speech
There are total eight parts of speech.
A noun is a word used as name of a person, place or thing.
A pronoun is a word which is used in the place of noun. For example, instead of saying Jack is a student,
the pronoun he can be used in place of the noun Jack and the sentence becomes he is a student.
A verb is a word that expresses an action or a state of being.
I love butter. (action)
John was happy in Paris. (state)
She bought a mobile. (action)
An adjective is a word that describes a noun or a pronoun.
An adverb is that word in a sentence, which modifies the meaning of verb or adjective or another adverb.
A preposition is a word placed before a noun or a pronoun to denote its relation to some other word.
A conjunction is a word that joins words, phrases, clauses or sentences.
An interjection is a word which expresses some sudden feelings or emotions such as joy, sorrow, surprise, pity, attention, shame, approval, etc.
